Just started shooting American Trap - how much lead should I be giving these targets?
I'm brand new to trap and shooting my dad's old Remington 870 with a modified choke. I'm on the 16-yard line and keep missing behind the birds, even when I feel like I'm swinging through. Using Federal Top Gun 7.5 shot at 1200 fps. Am I just not moving the gun fast enough?

Welcome to the sport! Missing behind is super common when you're starting out. With that setup on the 16-yard line, you're probably looking at 2-3 feet of lead on straightaway targets, and more like 4-5 feet on hard angles. Try focusing on the target's front edge instead of the whole clay - that helped me stop 'riding' the bird. What station are you struggling with most? Station 3 left-angles can be tricky for that behind pattern.
