Struggling with sustained lead on long handicap targets from 27 yards

I've been shooting American Trap for a few years and just moved back to the 27-yard handicap line. My Browning Citori 725 with a Modified choke and Federal Gold Medal 1-1/8 oz #8 loads is fine on closer targets, but I'm consistently behind the long left and right quartering birds. I've tried pulling away, but it feels rushed. Anyone else find the sustained lead method works better at max handicap?

Been there! At 27 yards, that sustained lead is crucial, especially on those quartering angles. Try this: for a hard left from station 3, I hold just outside the left edge of the house and maintain that lead through the shot—don't stop your swing. With your Modified choke and #8s, you've got the pattern density, just need that extra 3-4 feet of lead. What's your foot position like on those stations? Sometimes a slight adjustment there helps keep everything smooth.
