Just started shooting American Trap - how much lead should I be giving these targets?
I'm brand new to trap and shooting a Beretta A300 Outlander with a Modified choke. I'm shooting from the 16-yard line with Federal Top Gun 7.5 shot at 1200 fps. I keep missing behind the birds, especially on the hard left and right stations. How far out in front should I be aiming?

Welcome to the sport! For a 16-yard shooter with that setup, you're probably looking at about 2-3 feet of lead on straightaways and 3-4 feet on the angles. The key is to focus on the target's beak and swing through smoothly - don't stop your gun. Your Modified choke is perfect for 16-yard, and those Federal loads are solid. Try watching the target for a split second to gauge speed before you mount. What's your foot position like on those hard angle stations?
