Just started shooting American Trap - how much lead should I be giving these targets?
I'm brand new to trap and shooting a Beretta A300 with a modified choke. I'm at the 16-yard line using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 shot. I keep missing behind the birds, especially on stations 1 and 5. How much lead should I be seeing?

Welcome to the sport! For 16-yard targets with that setup, you're probably looking at 2-3 feet of lead on straightaways. On stations 1 and 5 where the angles are sharper, try 3-4 feet. Don't think about it too much though - focus on keeping your head down on the stock and swinging through smoothly. What's your foot position like on those outside stations? Sometimes that affects your swing more than the lead itself.
