Just started American Trap - how much lead should I be giving these targets?
I'm brand new to trap shooting and just joined my local club. I've been shooting a Beretta A300 with a Modified choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 shot at 1200fps. I'm consistently shooting behind the birds even when I think I'm on them. At the 16-yard line, how much lead am I supposed to give these things?

Welcome to the sport! That's a super common issue for beginners - I shot behind targets for months when I started. For 16-yard American Trap, you're probably looking at 2-3 feet of lead on straightaways, maybe 4 feet on hard angles. Try this: focus on the target's leading edge and keep your gun moving through the shot. Don't stop your swing! What's your foot position like? If you're not set up right, you'll struggle to maintain that follow-through.
