Struggling with sustained lead on long handicap targets from 27 yards
Been shooting American Trap for a few years and just moved back to the 27-yard line. I'm consistently behind the targets going away to the left and right. I'm using a Browning Citori with a Modified choke, shooting 1-1/8 oz of #7.5 shot at 1200 fps. I've tried pulling away but it feels rushed and I'm missing more. Anyone have tips for that sustained lead feel on the long birds?

I had the same issue when I first went back to 27 yards. The key for me was focusing on my foot position - I open my stance a bit more toward the expected break point, which lets me swing smoother without rushing. For sustained lead, I pick up the target earlier in the window and just keep the muzzle moving at the same speed as the bird, no acceleration. That Browning with Mod choke should be fine, but you might try a Full if you're getting thin patterns at that distance. What's your foot position like when you're on those stations?
