Struggling with consistency on my 27-yard handicap targets
Been shooting American Trap for about 2 years and just moved back to the 27-yard line. My scores have dropped from low 90s to mid-70s. I'm shooting a Browning Citori CX with a Modified choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 shot at 1200 fps. I feel like I'm seeing the bird well but just missing behind more often than not.

That's a classic 27-yard challenge - happens to everyone moving back. Your setup sounds solid, but at that distance with #8 shot, you might want to tighten up to a Full choke for a denser pattern. More importantly, check your foot position. At 27 yards, you need to be squared up more to the house, not angled like at 16 yards. Are you maintaining your hold point or letting it drift? Try focusing on keeping your muzzle just above the trap house roof and don't chase the bird - shoot where it's going, not where it is.
