Just started American Trap - how much lead do I need at 16 yards?
I'm brand new to trap shooting and just joined a local club. I've been shooting a Beretta A300 Outlander with a Modified choke using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 shot. I keep missing targets straight out of the house at the 16-yard line. I'm not sure if I'm behind them or overleading. What's a good starting point for lead?

Welcome to the sport! For straightaway targets at 16 yards, you don't need much lead at all - maybe just 6-12 inches of daylight between your barrel and the target. Most beginners actually miss by stopping their swing or looking back at their barrel. Try focusing hard on the target's edge and keep that gun moving smoothly. What station are you shooting from when this happens? Station 3 straightaways can feel different than station 1.
