Struggling with sustained lead on handicap targets from 25 yards

Been shooting American Trap for a few years and just moved back to the 25-yard line. I'm consistently behind the targets when I try to use a sustained lead. My setup is a Browning Citori CX with a Modified choke, shooting Federal Top Gun 1-1/8 oz #8 at 1200 fps. I've tried increasing my lead but then I'm overcompensating and missing ahead.

I had the same issue when I first moved back. At 25 yards, the target is really moving - you might need 4-5 feet of lead instead of the 2-3 feet you're used to from closer distances. Try focusing on the target's edge rather than the whole clay, and keep that gun moving smoothly through the shot. What's your foot position like? Sometimes opening up your stance a bit more toward the trap house helps with that longer swing. Also, have you considered stepping up to a Full choke? That extra pattern density can forgive a slight lead miscalculation.
