Struggling with station 4 high house in American Skeet - feel like I'm always behind
Been shooting American Skeet for about 2 years now, mostly with my Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting. I'm using a Skeet choke and Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #9 loads. At station 4, the high house target just seems to get away from me. I've tried holding a bit higher on the house and mounting earlier, but I'm still missing behind consistently. Anyone else have this issue?

Station 4 high house is tricky because it's starting to flatten out. Try holding at the top corner of the high house window instead of on the house itself - that gives you a better visual pickup. When you see the target, don't wait for it to get out there - mount and shoot immediately with a smooth swing. I've found that focusing on the target's leading edge rather than the whole clay helps with timing. What's your gun mount like at that station - are you coming up to it or already shouldered?
