Station 4 doubles in American Skeet - struggling with the second target

Been shooting American Skeet for about 2 years with my Beretta A400 Xcel, 28" barrels, using Skeet chokes and Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #9 loads. I can consistently break the first target from the high house, but I'm always late on the second from the low house. I've tried focusing on the first target more, but then I lose the second completely.

Station 4 doubles are tricky because that second low house target is really moving by the time you get to it. Try this: instead of trying to see both targets clearly, focus on the first high house target with your eyes, but keep your gun moving toward where the second target will be. Your peripheral vision will pick up the second target as it comes out. For the low house target, you'll need a solid 3-4 feet of lead at that point. What's your gun mount timing like - are you mounting as you call for the pair, or waiting until you see the first target?
