Just started American Skeet - my gun mount feels slow on station 4 high house
I'm brand new to skeet shooting and working through the stations. On station 4, when that high house bird comes out, I feel like I'm always rushing my mount and missing behind. I'm shooting a used Beretta A300 with a 28" barrel and a skeet choke. Using Federal Top Gun 2¾" shells with 8 shot at 1200 fps. Anyone else struggle with this when they started?

Welcome to the sport! Station 4 high house is tricky for beginners because that target's already moving away from you. Try starting with your gun pre-mounted at your cheek, butt just off your shoulder - not full gun-down, but ready to go. Focus on the house opening, mount as you see the target, then swing through. With your A300, that skeet choke is perfect. Those Federal loads are fine too, though some folks prefer 9 shot for a denser pattern. What's your hold point on station 4 - are you looking at the house corner or further out?
