History
Founded in 1856 as Smith & Wesson Revolver Company in Springfield, MA by Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson. Primarily handgun/handcuff manufacturer. Bought Noble shotgun patents in 1972, produced Model 916 pump-action with quality issues, exited shotgun market mid-1980s. Reentered shotgun market November 2006, discontinued circa 2010. Core business remains handguns.
