Russian firearms brand under Kalashnikov Concern, producing semi-automatic shotguns including the Saiga-12 based on AK-47 design, manufactured at Izhmash factory where Mikhail Kalashnikov worked.
History
Created after Soviet Union dissolution in 1990s when Izhmash struggled with declining demand. Saiga shotguns developed by same Izhmash factory where Kalashnikov designed AK-47 in 1947. In 2013, Izhmash and Izhevsk Mechanical Plant merged forming Kalashnikov Concern. Produces 95% of Russian small arms, supplies 27+ countries as largest Russian firearms manufacturer.
