Historic Syracuse, New York shotgun manufacturer producing America's first commercially successful hammerless double-barrel shotgun.
History
Founded in 1877 when L.C. and Leroy Smith joined W.H. Baker to form W.H. Baker & Co. in Syracuse. In 1880, renamed L.C. Smith Shotgun Company when joined by Wilbert Smith and A.T. Brown. Produced first hammerless shotgun 1886. Sold to Hunter Arms 1889, who produced until 1945. Acquired by Marlin who produced 1945-1950, briefly revived 1967-1972.
