BSW

Berlin-Suhler Waffen- und Fahrzeugwerke GmbH

German firearms manufacturer in Suhl, formed from the forced Aryanization of the Jewish-owned Simson company.

Country: Germany
Founded: 1936
Defunct: 1939

History

Formed in 1936 when the Nazi government forced the Jewish Simson family to flee and took control through a trustee merger. The name change from Simson to BSW was seen by critics as standing for 'Bis Simson Wiederkommt' (until Simson returns). Renamed Gustloff-Werke in 1939, ending the BSW name.
