History
The Izhevsk Mechanical Plant was founded on July 20, 1942 for manufacturing small arms during WWII. Since 1960, the plant supplied hunting shotguns for export under the Baikal trademark. In 2013, Izhmash and Izhevsk Mechanical Plant merged to form Kalashnikov Concern, with Baikal as one of three firearm brands.
