History

Manufrance, or Manufacture Française d'Armes et Cycles de Saint-Étienne, traces roots back to 1885 becoming France's first mail-order company. Founders Étienne Mimard and Pierre Blachon started venture with vision to provide high-quality firearms and cycles to French public. In 1911 MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE D'ARMES ET CYCLES DE ST ETIENNE became MANUFRANCE. First French mail order company mainly specialised in shotguns (Robust, Falcor, Ideal, Simplex) and bicycles (Hirondelle) since 1890. From 1975 onwards significant difficulties arose. In addition to negative effects of first global oil crisis on consumption, production facilities had not kept pace with changes. Manufrance ceased production of shotguns in 1980s. In 1985 SCOPD put into liquidation.
