Russian firearms manufacturer from Vyatskiye Polyany, established 1940 originally in Zagorsk, main producer of PPSh-41 machine guns in WWII, now manufactures VEPR rifles and shotguns, subsidiary of Rostec.
History
Molot established in 1940, originally based in Zagorsk, Moscow Oblast. In 1941 plant evacuated to Vyatskiye Polyany with workers including G. S. Shpagin and N. F. Makarov, designer of eponymous Makarov pistol. Vyatskiye Polyany Molot Machine-Building Plant established in 1941 as Vyatskie Polyany Machine-Building Plant. Was main producer of PPSh-41 machine guns used by Russian forces in World War II. Plant manufactures rifles and shotguns under Molot-Oruzhiye (Hammer Weapon) and VEPR (Wild Boar) brands, subsidiary of Rostec. In 1990s company diversified by launching line of sports and hunting weapons. High quality hunting firearms imported into United States under Molot VEPR brand name exclusively by FIME Group since 2015. In 2017 Molot-Oruzhiye OOO added to list of companies under import sanctions by US Department of Treasury.
