History
Founded in 1812 by William Westley Richards, celebrated Birmingham gunmaker. Founded in Britain's historic gun making capital of Birmingham, retained roots there, now last remaining large-scale manufacturer near to original Gun Quarter. In over 200 years of continuous gunmaking Westley Richards credited with some of greatest designs in both military and sporting firearm history, most notably solid drawn brass cartridge case, monkey-tail breech loading rifle, Anson & Deeley hammerless gun, hand detachable lock action, single selective trigger, forend ejector mechanism, and model 'C' doll's head fastener with snap action lever work. In all 115 patents applied for, many designs officially recognized by issue of no less than 22 special awards, medals and royal warrants. One of oldest surviving traditional handmade gun and rifle makers in England, established reputation for highest quality guns matched with unparalleled levels of artistry.
