Valmet
Finnish firearms manufacturer from Jyväskylä established 1926, famous for 412-shooting system, merged with Sako in 1986 forming Sako-Valmet combining all Finnish firearms makers.
History
Valmet established in 1926 in town of Jyväskylä in Finland, famous for 412-shooting system. Valmet guns (rifles also) made in Finland during long period beginning at early 1900-century. In 1986 arms manufacturing division of government-owned Valmet conglomerate merged with Sako and called Sako-Valmet, creating combined entity that included all three Finnish firearms manufacturers (Tikkakoski had been merged into SAKO in 1983). All Tikka 512S shotguns based on Valmet 412 shotgun designed in Finland. Valmet was popular model in Europe and America, slowly evolved from 412 to 412S then bought out by Tikka rifle works with Sako in control before eventually becoming Tikka 512 model. Valmet shotguns made in Finland to year 1984, after that made in Italy for couple of years.
