History

Firm of Skimin & Wood established about 1920 at 31 Loveday Street in Birmingham. In 1929 bought Charles Osborne & Co Ltd (established 1838). In 1929 also bought Holloway & Naughton (and J & W Tolley who had been bought by Holloway & Naughton in 1916) and moved into their premises at 10, 12, & 14 Vesey Street. Birmingham gunmaker Skimin & Wood credited with completing first commercially viable 2-inch 12 gauge in 1930, A&D boxlock dubbed The 20th Century Gun, developed shortly after these acquisitions. Famous for their 2 inch actions.
