History

Founded in 1959 when master craftsman Francisco Sarriugarte opened modest workshop in Spain's Basque Country. Handcrafted shotguns that spoke language of old-world excellence, joined by his sons Arcadio and Juan Cruz. Family quietly earned reputation in Basque Country building exquisite side-by-sides and precision parts for other renowned makers. During difficult economic times Francisco led bold experiment joining with 20 other manufacturers to form DIARM, cooperative designed to preserve vanishing trade when Spain's economy faltered in 1980s. Company Kemen created by Sarriugarte brothers, traces ancestry to venerable firm of Francisco Sarriugarte. In 2022 Juan Cruz Sarriugarte and daughters Ioana and Enara partnered with Pat and Drew Lieske of Michigan to introduce Kemen USA making firearms available to American market.
