Sabatti
One of Europe's oldest surviving family-owned weapons manufacturers from Gardone Val Trompia, Brescia, with 300-year gunmaking tradition dating to early 1700s.
History
Sabatti tradition in gunmaking deeply rooted, numerous family active in firearms manufacturing in all specialties for three hundred years. Lodovico Sabatti working in early 1700s in city of Gardone Val Trompia as archibusaro (master gunsmith), well known manufacturer of excellent flintlock guns and qualified master cannoniere (barrel maker). Giuseppe Sabatti, esteemed skilled gunmaker, worked in Gardone Val Trompia from 1760 to 1815. Another Giuseppe Sabatti worked in first half of 1800s as barrel maker: extremely well respected in craft, considered one of best damascus barrel manufacturers ever. In 1948 Giuseppe Tanfoglio formed company called SATA joining Sabatti family, new company started producing shotgun receivers and small parts. At end of 1960 SATA company closed, Tanfoglio Giuseppe left shotguns business to former partner Sabatti family. Current form founded in 1960, based in Gardone Val Trompia near Brescia.
