History

Larrañaga was one of four workshops to hold category of factory in Eibar, together with Orbea Hermanos, Zuloaga, and Ignacio Ibarzábal, maintaining this category until beginning of Second Carlist War. Firm appeared among early entrepreneurs in Eibar alongside Orbea Hermanos, Anitua y Charola, and Gárate y Anitua. Miguel Larranaga from Placencia, Spain was among better-known companies that joined with Aguirre y Aranzabal (AYA), Gaspar Arizaga, and others. Francisco Larrañaga manufactured pinfire revolvers in Eibar circa 1855. Multiple Larranaga gunshops existed as part of Basque gunmaking tradition centered in Eibar and Placencia. Now appears in lists of defunct Spanish gunmakers.
