History
James Tolley born 1832, started gunmaking business with brother William at St. Mary's Row, Birmingham around 1858 at 22 St Mary's Row. Started making large quantities of cheap guns, some for African market, soon producing higher quality guns. Opened London branch in 1883 at 1 Conduit Street, moved to 59 (New) Bond Street in 1894. George Bayliss was London Manager 1883-1903. James Tolley died 1916. Firm bought by Holloway & Naughton. Last guns manufactured in 1955.
