History

Founded 1775 when first John Rigby (born 1758 in Dublin) entered gunmaking trade in Dublin, though some documents suggest 1735. Company began in 18th century Dublin, moved to London in 1865, closing Dublin doors 1897. Builds rifles based on Mauser barrelled actions and double rifles based on Rigby-Bissell 1879 patent rising-bite action. Also made boxlock and sidelock shotguns. Now owned by Lüke & Ortmeier Gruppe, based in Vauxhall, central London under managing director Marc Newton.
