History

Born 1810 in Doncaster, Thomas Horsley learned his trade in Richard Brunton's workshop at Stonegate, York. Set up own premises around 1830, changed to 48 Coney Street in 1834. In 1856 moved to 10 Coney Street where it stayed until 1915. In 1862 & 1863 patented unique pull-back snap action and retractable firing pins. Patent 2410 of October 1863 covers Horsley's second version of single-bite snap action. Patent 1138 of April 1867 covers hammer-mounted cam system for withdrawing strikers. Patent 710 of 1868 involves loaded indicators. Was favoured gunsmith in Yorkshire. Business continued until 1959.
