History

Stephen Grant born 1821 in Tipperary, Ireland, apprenticed with Dublin's William Kavanaugh, moved to London 1843 working with Charles Lancaster. Moved to Thomas Boss 1850, became managing partner when Boss died 1857. Set up own business in St. James, London in 1867. Appointed gunmaker to Prince of Wales 1871. Earned Royal Warrants from Prince of Wales, Queen Victoria, Czar of Russia and Sultan of Turkey. Died 1898. Company became 'Stephen Grant & Sons' in 1889. Purchased by William Robson in 1923, amalgamated with Joseph Lang & Sons in 1925, joined by Henry Atkin in 1960 forming Atkin Grant & Lang.
