History

Founded in 1829 when William Greener, who had worked in London for Manton, returned to Newcastle. In 1844 moved to Birmingham. His son William Wellington Greener produced his first breechloader in 1864. When William died in 1869, the companies amalgamated as W.W. Greener. Building of Birmingham's inner ring road meant St Mary's Square factory demolished in 1965, production ceased as family business. In 1985, David Dryhurst, Graham Greener and Richard Tandy became part owners.
