American firearms company from Rochester, New Hampshire, famous for interchangeable-barrel Contender pistols/rifles, producing limited shotgun barrels and firearms.
History
Founded in Rochester, NH in 1965 when Warren Center designed Contender, produced 1967 by K.W. Thompson Tool Company. Purchased by Smith & Wesson January 4, 2007. Rochester plant closed December 2010, moved to Springfield, MA. S&W phased out Thompson/Center May 2021. Original owner Gregg Ritz repurchased May 2024, moving production back to Rochester, NH.
